Each year, ITS reflects on its accomplishments. Below are a few for 2016. Thanks to all of the dedicated ITS staff who keep the hamster circling the wheel and develop new and innovative services and more efficient ways to meet the needs of K-State students, faculty and staff.


Launched the K-State mobile app

Released an improved method for managing exams using the Scantron forms


Identified budget and actual costs by service based on the service directory

Matured the Project Review Board (PRB) to review and prioritize ITS projects

Established an Enterprise Architecture Review Board (EARB) to review technical components of projects and begin design of the enterprise architecture


Migrated HRIS, FIS, KSIS and the VDI to the converged infrastructure

Implemented in ClearPass in specific location in our move to authenticated wireless

Collaborated with the College of Business on the new building

Updated Throckmorton 1014 and Waters 328

Operational Improvements

Revised the Enterprise Resource Group (ERG) to focus on process improvements

Improved (internal ITS) visibility of incidents, enhancement, and projects using ServiceNow

Developed a service directory and restructured the service catalog to align with that directory (using ServiceNow)

Initiated the Workforce Readiness Project – reviewing JAQ data, position descriptions, and processes to align with changing service demand

Moved EST, Information Security and Compliance and the WSE’s to the fourth floor of Unger Complex to improve communication and collaboration?

Developed Lunch ‘n Learn and Conversation Cafe to enhance the professional development of our staff


Updated transport rules for Office 365 to reduce phishing scams and subsequently compromised accounts

Released the IT Security Awareness Training with a completion rate of about 5,011 K-State employees

Developed Phishing Scam Training
