De soto was born in 1496 or 1497 and lived in jerez de los caballeros. In 1539 he set out for North America, where he discovered the mississippi. De soto wanted to find new land, but then found North america. De soto also had a big family. Little was known about de soto's early life. De soto was also a military man. De soto was also the first European to cross the mississippi river. De soto died because of a fever in may 21, 1542. De soto wished to join the ranks of men such as Hernan Cortes. In the early 1530s, de soto helped conquer Peru. De soto is also a spanish explorer. De soto's men buried him in the mississippi river. Has a sibling called Juan Mendez de soto. Hernando's father is Francisco mendez, Hernando's mother is Leonor Arias Tinoco, and Hernando's wife is Ines de Bobadilla.
