De soto was born in 1496 or 1497 and lived in jerez de los caballeros. In 1539 he set out for North America, where he discovered the mississippi. Hernando's father is Francisco mendez, Hernando's mother is Leonor Arias Tinoco, and Hernando's wife is Ines de Bobadilla.
