Meet Elliot James
"When I think of the American South my mind travels to the aromas of the magnolias, the sultry summers along the byways of the lazy river, and the sound of the harmonica on the bayou. I taste Aunt Pity Pat's fried chicken and my grandmothers buttered grits. I know that the slow pace is good for my soul and the wide open spaces allow my mind to freely meditate.
My multimedia and journalistic work is committed to Southern storytelling with a focus on depicting the American South in an accurate and historical manner. Through this work, I hope to help in overcoming the over romanticizations, stereotypes and misinterpretations that the South faces. I look to tell the untold and unheard stories. The voices that tell of a well-cultured, long-standing southland. One that has hundreds of years of history, much longer than any war. And, a story that preaches global competence, heroic victory and well-deserved defeat. - Now that is romantic."
