Modern Physics

Four Fundamental Forces

  • Gravitational: Increases with masses, inverse square law force, always attractice
  • Electromagnetic: Increases the charges, inverse square law force, opposites attract and likes repel
  • Strong Nuclear: Holds positively charges nucleus together, extremely short range
  • Weak Nuclear: Involved in radioactive decay
EINSTEIN'S GENERAL REALITIVITY -Determined the laws of physics are the same for all non accelerating observers -Showed that speed of light within a vacuum is same no matter the speed
QUANTUM MECHANICS -Fundamental theory of nature at small scales and low energies or atoms and subatomic particles Objects have characteristics of both particles and waves
UNIFICATION -Unifying quantum mechanics and general relativity for one equations to explain the whole universe
STRING THEORY -All particles are actually tiny vibrating strings and each type of vibration corresponds to different particles -Requires us to accept the existence of extra dimensions in the universe
