Azden Export Plan 2017 building upon success

"A goal without a plan is just a wish"

Export Sales in 2016 saw it's best year since 2011, having over $550,00.00 in sales for the year. With the PRO-XD catching on, the addition of the SMX-15 and SMX-30 and a few new key distribution accounts, the year was a tremendous success. While I didn't meet my goal of $750,000.00 for the year, I set myself up for a great upcoming year. Expanding on that, we had an excellent showing at IBC and Photokina, setting us up to add even more distribution partners for 2017. The plan for 2017 is to hit at least $1,000,000.00 in sales for the year.

GROOMING CURRENT DISTRIBUTORS

1. Grooming current distributors in 2017

Some dealers/distributors in Europe will need a pretty heavy push in 2017. Namely, Intro2020, Hapa Team GmbH, Kerpix and Syntex all need big improvements. The key will be to groom these current customers, adapting to their needs, changes in the market and helping them as often as possible. With the addition of the repackaged SMX-10 and SGM-990+i and the (2) new shotgun microphones, as well as the sales aid pamphlets and more content, we will have plenty to help each customer succeed in their respective markets. The same goes for South America, namely Grupo Bazzi. Regular Skype meetings, emails and phone calls are going to be crucial and that's an area I can improve to stay on top of customers.

New and relevant content will be a big player in the success of our marketing and sales strategies to help groom these existing customers, but also entice and help to land other distributors. We need to be able to show that Azden is a forward-thinking and forward-moving company, able to product the best in affordable audio technology. So, we'll need to be very heavy in creating videos, getting more positive product reviews, taking new photos and using social media to promote the brand. We saw what our PRO-XD and SMX-30 content did to impress customers at IBC and Photokina and we need to continue that throughout the year as often as possible.

A big key to the success of a $1,000,000.00 year in Export Sales is not only grooming existing customers, but bringing on and starting up with new distributors. Currently, we have secured options for Spain/Portugal, Italy and Mexico. All plan to start in the 1st quarter of 2017, ensuring a successful start to the year, especially financially. Also, I hope to add distributors for the following territories in 2017 to help diversify our reach:

  • CROATIA
  • GREECE
  • SOUTH AFRICA
  • ISRAEL
  • RUSSIA
  • NIGERIA / WEST AFRICA

4. ATTENTION TO DETAIL

With the task of grooming existing export customers, adding new ones and always needing to push and create content to secure demand an orders, attention to detail is an absolute MUST in 2017. I dropped the ball a few times in 2016 with attention to detail, making some silly and costly mistakes. Attention to the details will allow for a smoother work year, less mistakes and ensure good trade shows. What a customer orders, how often they order, shipping details, double/triple checking pending orders and cross-referencing shipping details will be a huge focus. With being more busy, things cannot slip through the cracks.

5. PUSHING QUANTITY PRODUCTS

2017 should see a continuation of our business plan to push the quantity products like the SMX-10, SGM-990+i (both with new SMH-X mount), SMX-15, SMX-30, PRO-XD, EX-503i and of course the new shotgun microphones when they are released. The SGM-250 and SGM-250P are still under this category, but the mics more focused on DSLR and mirrorless camera users are where the sweet spot will be. I will continue to push these particular products to the export customers, citing advantages to using audio products with a DSLR or mirrorless, the advantages of specifically using Azden audio products and lastly, how our products differ from our competition. With a stock of quantity product readily available in Japan, shipping to our Euro distributors will be even easier in 2017 as well (if they chose ex-Japan option).
