CITGO Executive Team Adventure 2017 Presented by Muddy Shoe Adventures & Evergreen Escapes

Dunton hot springs | dolores, CO

May 2017 (Dates TBD)

This former mining town deep in Colorado has been restored from top to bottom and offers an exquisite retreat. Log cabins and spacious tents provide delightfully comfortable rooms; meals are taken in the saloon which has retained its original character, and provides a convivial gathering spot. The landscape of this splendid alpine valley, nestled in the San Juan mountains, changes with the passing seasons, from pristine white snow to flaming orange in autumn. The natural hot springs with their life-enhancing benefits are an added bonus. Dunton Hot Springs (DHS) was named to the 2014 & 2016 Gold List by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine, was the winner of "The Greatest Outdoors" from Mr & Mrs Smith Hotel Awards, and was awarded #4 Best Hotel for Food Lovers in America by Bon Appétit Magazine. DHS is a proud partner of Relais & Chateaux, Sutcliffe Vineyards, and PURE Life Experiences.

Day 1 | Welcome to Dunton Hot Springs

Fly into either Telluride or Cortez airports, where Dunton Hot Springs staff and your Program Leaders will greet you. Enjoy a scenic 1-hour drive to Dunton. Take time to relax, unpack, and settle into your cabin. Depending on the weather and flight schedules, you may have time for an afternoon hike through the vast Colorado wilderness.

Next, our journey of exploration and discovery begins in earnest as your Program Leaders lead you through our powerful Opening Ceremony that we refer to as The Call to Adventure. In this process, you will identify motivators for coming to Dunton Hot Springs and discuss program goals, intentions, and desired outcomes. You'll also explore effective (and ineffective) ways of being that will contribute to (or detract from) reaching those program goals and objectives.

Hungry and thirsty, you'll be treated to a range of hors d’oeuvres and cocktails that will be served in the Saloon. Dunton is famous for its food, and their chefs, led by Executive Chef Basil Yu, draw on classical training to create a new menu every day using local and regional ingredients, some from our farm and vineyard. You'll eat at a long, antique table in the center of the Saloon, a tradition from the big cattle outlaws that we choose to maintain. If guests prefer however, we do have the option for guests to dine separately. The open kitchen is the heart of the old Saloon for everyone to see and enjoy. People love to watch and even help the Chef as he makes the days fare. We welcome the opportunity to prepare something special: Just say the word!

Day 2 | Day of Adventure

Begin the day with a selection of optional early morning activities from the lodge including a vigorous morning yoga class to awaken the body or a relaxing soak in the hot springs, then treat yourself to a fantastic breakfast in the Saloon. After filling up, you will set out for a morning team adventure that has been carefully selected by your Program Leaders based on program theme and goals. Activities may include: Hiking, fishing, mountain biking, horseback riding, and more!

After lunch, debrief your morning adventure with your Program Leaders. Our focus for this discussion is self-awareness and understanding. Special attention will be given to actions, attitudes, and behaviors that positively or negatively impacted the group. Afterwards, you have the afternoon free: Soak in the hot springs, hit the trails for an afternoon hike or ride, or catch up on some well-deserved R-and-R.

Cocktails are served before dinner; Afterwards, relax beneath the stars that you have never seen shine so bright. Enjoy a night-cap drink while you are serenaded by that evening's musical offering.

the journey continues

Day 3 | Team Adventure

After another morning of indulgence and delicious food, the team will set out for another exciting morning of adventure and exploration carefully crafted by your Program Leaders. After lunch, we’ll dive into group conversations and breakout sessions that will help us make sense of the morning adventure. Specifically, the focus of this discussion will be on team / group dynamics and will explore topics such as communication, collaboration, and leadership. These conversations will support your team in using the adventure as a metaphor for what happens in the work environment, and in applying the lessons learned to their lives and their work.

Tonight, enjoy another exquisite dinner and then spend the evening bonding with you colleagues in an unforgettable evening of music, singing, dancing, and fun!

Day 4 | Depart Dunton Hot Springs

The final day of our program begins with a special breakfast prepared by the Dunton Hot Springs staff. Afterwards, you’ll be guided through a series of discussions and activities that will utilize the adventure experiences of the past 3 days to help your group develop a vision for the future and create strategies and actions plans for making that vision a reality. We will end the program before lunch with an inspirational and powerful Closing Ceremony that reviews the goals, intentions, and desired outcomes of this adventure that you established on Day 1, and explores what contributed to the successful achievement of those goals. After lunch, you will be transferred back to the airport to take your private plane home or onward to your next destination.

PHASE III: The return

Summer 2017 | Post-Trip Follow-Up

After the Adventure ends, your Program Leaders will continue to work with your team as they begin to implement their action plans during a one-hour post-adventure follow-up call. Keys to this process include supporting both individual members and the group in overcoming the inevitable obstacles and challenges that will crop up.

Oftentimes, clients want to continue working with their Program Leaders after their adventure. To address these needs, we are proud to offer additional post-adventure options that include: One-on-One executive coaching, ongoing group-level leadership development programs, additional consulting and support from our staff. These additional services are not included in the price of the Team Adventure and would incur additional costs.

Sturdy, hand-hewn, and authentic, cabins at Dunton Hot Spring contain a world of whimsy and elegance. Built in a circle around the Saloon and Dance Hall, they lie just steps from the wonderful bath house. At the other end of town is an open air chapel and tumbling waterfall. All of Dunton’s authentically restored log cabins are full of fascinating details. All the cabins are hand-built and, in some cases, by the original miners themselves. Lovingly restored, each possesses a distinct character. Tastefully decorated, they are full of unique artifacts and furnishings. Every window affords magnificent views of the mountains and the surrounding meadows.

The Saloon is the center for dining and evening festivities @ Dunton Hot Springs.
