World War ll ch.10 L.1 Lexi #1 Hunt

In the 1930's most European countries where still recovering from the damage from World War 1. Most people where unemployed and prices of goods where high. Many powerful leaders in Europe promised to solve the problems.

After World War 1 Germany's economy suffered. They were not able to pay of the war damages. In the 1920's Adolf Hitler became the leader of a political party called the National Socialists, also known as the Nazis. The Nazis took over Germany in 1933. Hitler started ruling as a dictator. Hitler died from poisoning himself.

Benito Mussolini took power in Italy. He was a fascist leader. Fascism is a political idea in which power is given to a dictator and the freedoms of individuals are taken away. Many people in Italy believed fascism was the awnser to there problems and troubles. On April 28, 1945 Mussolini died.

Fransico Franco was another fascist leader. He took over Spain with some help from Benito Mussolini. Franco died on November 20, 1975.

Joseph Stalin took control of the Soviet Union in 1924. The Soviet Union is a communist country that had formed from many countries after the 1917 Russian Revolution. Stalin died in 1953.

General Hideki Tojo became the prime minister of Japan in October 1941. Military leaders conquer other nations in Asia to get resources for the industry. Tojo was hanged by the Allies after the war.

So these are the dictators of WWII.
