When is the best time of the year to go there?

First of all remember, Amsterdam has extreme changes of temperature:

Winters are cold, but the views of the streets covered by snow are awesome!
In summer, the temperature is warm, but one of the inconvenients is that there are many more people than in winter, because of the good temperatures.
The currency was the Netherlands Florin since 2002, when they started using Euros.
The population in Amsterdam is about 820.700 citizens.

And if you have been surprised by the number of inhabitants, you will be more surprised by the fact that almost everyone goes by bicycle!

Tipical food you will find in Amsterdam

Rijsttafel: This dish is made of rice mixed with all type of vegetables, meat and coconut.
Bitterballen: This dish are balls of bread crumbs filled with beef, broth and spices.
Stroopwafels: This delicious dessert is basically two waffles with caramel filling.

What to drink in Amsterdam:

The national liquor is the gin from the Netherlands

They usually drink it with a cold bear.

How to get around?

You can go around the city by your own car, taxi, bus, tram, train and bycicle.

The museum contains the largest collection of works by the painter Vicent Van Gogh.

Anna Frank's house:

She Is a Jewish girl who has to go into hiding during World War Two to escape from the Nazis. Together with seven others she hides in the secret annex on the Prinsengracht 263 in Amsterdam. After more than two years in hiding they are discovered and deported to concentration camps. Anne’s father, Otto Frank, is the only one of the eight people to survive. After her death Anne becomes world famous because of the diary she wrote while in hiding.

Timetable:

  • Daily from: 09:00 to 19:00.
  • Saturdays: 09:00 a.m. to 09:00 p.m.
  • All year round open exept the 11 of October, the day of Yom Kippur.

  • Adults: 9 Euros
  • Children between 10 and 17 years: 4,50 Euros
  • Children up to 9 years: Free

A small mammal that feeds on plants and goes out only at night.

The Grutto:

It is a bird that eats worms and small crabs, its name comes from the sound it makes: Utto, Utto, Utto.

Caro Emerald: Singer

She is known for her red rose in her hair and red lips.

Michiel Huisman: Actor

He is famous for his interpretation of Daario Naharis in Game of Thrones.

Three curiosities of Amsterdam:

1. The houses have hooks, Why?

The houses are so tall and narrow, that in the past, they had to raise heavy loads with the help of the hook.

2. They give each other four kisses instead of two

This is interesting, isn't it?

3. The three X in the flag, what do they mean?

The three X on the flag represent the disasters that have affected the city throughout its history. These are fires, floods and plague.
