Eagles Kings of the Skies

Eagles are my favorite animals. There are currently more than 60 species of eagles in the world that vary from as small as Little Eagle (weighting 815 g) to as big as Philippine Eagle (weighting 8 kg).

Eagles have unusually large eyes in proportion to their heads. Unlike humans, who see three basic colors, eagles see five. Their large eyes allow them to see a well camouflaged prey from as far as two miles.

Most of the eagles lay two eggs, but only the largest chick survives after killing its sibling once it has hatched.

Some eagles have short wings and longs tails which allows them to hunt in close spaces of forest, while others have long wings and short tails which allows them to soar high above plains and water.

In order to attract a mate or defend their territory some eagles would engage in spectacular, but deadly dogfights involving locking talons, free falling, and death - defying swoops.

Around the world eagles are viewed as living symbol of power, freedom, and transcendence.
