The Clarke Central High School girls soccer team’s season is in full swing and Varsity head coach Chris Hulse is prepared for the upcoming season and new team.
“(I am looking forward to) everything. I honestly couldn't pick a moment or event I look forward to most,” Hulse said. “There is nothing like this game, and I am blessed to work with such a remarkable group of young women and coaches.”
Senior and captain Maria Somilleda is looking forward to playing and has the initial goal of creating a stronger team bond and work ethic.
“My goal for the season is to try to connect more with the girls and get in more communication with them so we can do good in the end of the day,” Somilleda said. “But my goal is to give my best everyday in practice and in the games too, and so if you score a goal we get to share that with everyone.”
Hulse, like Somilleda, hopes to continue building relationships, in addition to the program.
“I love my team. Simply put, the class of 2017 came in as Freshmen my first year as the varsity head coach,” Hulse said. “I have seen them continually push the bar higher and higher for our program. It's an honor to work with them, and every other girl in the program.”
Somilleda plans to use the season for learning and growing as a team.
“We have ups and downs and all, but it goes pretty good when you start learning new things everyday,” Somilleda said. “But in the end it is fun and everything is good for you and it works so good and you get to score in the game.”
