Location and Visiting
The Mall of America is right on the outskirts of Minneapolis. the mall is next to the coast of the Minnesota River in Bloomington, Minnesota. This gives the mall a good surrounding area of interesting things to do.
The layout of the area makes visiting the mall very easy. The Minneapolis- Saint Paul International Airport is located near the mall to allow people to travel from all over the country to the Mall of America. Another thing that makes visiting easy is that there are lots of hotels around the mall.
History
The mall was the biggest mall in the United States when it opened. The mall of America was built on August 11, 1992 by a Triple Five group. This group was owned by the Ghermezian Brothers.
The Germezian Brothers, the builders of the Mall of America, were also owned the West Edmonton Mall, the largest mall in North America.The mall was Built on the site of the Metropolitan Stadium where the Minnesota Vikings and Twins used to play. In the mall there is a plaque to signify where home plate of the stadium used to be.
Attractions
Nickelodeon Universe
The Nickelodeon Universe is the biggest indoor theme park in the United States. The lives up to its name with lots of rides from giant skateboards to zip lines across the park.The park also holds the United States biggest roller, The Rock Bottom Plunge.
Lego Imagination Center
At the entrance to the mall stands the Lego Imagination Center which is a Lego shop that is covered in monstrous Lego creations. They call it the "Lego, Hall of Heros." These giant Lego structures really attracts customers to get them in the store.
Shopping
In the mall of America you can buy almost anything your heart desires. The mall holds hundreds of outlet stores to give you choices on virtually anything you want. So if your going to the Mall of America don' forget your wallet!
News
The newest big addition to the Mall of America is the arcade SMAAASH. SMAAASH opened at the Mall of America on December 20, 2016 and is the first and so far only SMAAASH facility in the United States. SMAAASH is basically an arcade on steroids featuring things from a two floor racing track to virtual reality games.
SMAAASH has all of the great features of an arcade and so much more. For starters there is a two floor Go-Kart race track for kids to hit the track and race their friends and others. The arcade is Also equipped with Virtual Reality Video games and things like VR golfing and other VR sports.
On top of racing and games, SMAAASH also has an area for customers to eat. Though they are not known for their food SMAAASH added in this feature to give costumers the opportunity to eat while playing. This will make SMAAASH more money in the long run because now customers wont have to leave to eat.
