Featured INCer of the Week
Lisbon INC has given me many opportunities to see what I'm truly passionate about. I've learned so many things about what it really takes to be successful on a project.
Featured Project of the Week
Battle of the Bookworms
Battle of the Bookworms is a district wide reading competition heating up the halls of Lisbon Schools. This friendly "battle" officially started Monday, April 3, and runs through April 28. Students and staff from kindergarten through 12th grade are participating in the competition, logging the minutes they read every day. Lisbon INC groups are collaborating on this project. Seniors Emilee Hamann and sophomore Evan Clausen are planning and facilitating the Battle of the Bookworms and the video production team is helping with promotions.
One of the promotions, Leroy Loves to Read, involves Leroy visiting classrooms during reading time to encourage students to read. Some little lions got a surprise as they spotted Leroy near the library. They couldn't wait to share their books with him!
Project Updates
21st Century Learning Space
On April 6th, Lisbon INC hosted a meeting with representatives from Premier Furniture and Equipment to talk about renovating Lisbon INC's space. They brought sample furniture to show the group for students to try out. Many options were discussed and another meeting will be held in the next few weeks.
Makeup Blog
Sophomore Samantha Back is working on a project that involves one of her passions, makeup. Sam explained how her makeup blog got its start. "It's a project that Mrs. Snyder and I came up with to help me express my creativity and explore one of my passions. My blog has makeup reviews and videos to teach you how to apply certain products. It is called The Makeup Bag and people have told me it was very useful and helped them a lot."
Rehabilitation Center of Lisbon Commercial
Lisbon INC's video production team had the opportunity April 4 to job shadow Serena Collins of CBS2 in the filming of a commercial for the new Rehabilitation Center of Lisbon. The students experienced first hand how Collins worked with lighting, various equipment, and how much footage that needs to be shot for a 30 second spot. Thanks to the actors, actresses, CBS2, and ABCM Corporation for letting Lisbon INC take part in the event!
