"I made 'em all disappear! AHAHAHAHAHAH!"
This is my most recent film. It's called, "Christopher: Piggy Mastermind". The main goal in this video was to have a dialogue sequence with an unexpected plot twist in the end. My video was about me talking to my friend about some students that are mysteriously disappearing. He tells me that the evidence points to our video production teacher, Mr. Strong to be the culprit, but I have trouble believing him. Then, once we both walk to his classroom and accuse him of the crime, a surprising character admits to being guilty instead.
Making this video was an absolute blast, and it's all thanks to my teacher for helping me come up with the idea for such an incredible twist ending. While making this project, I learned that even the most absurd sounding ideas can make for excellent stories. My inspiration for this video was when Mr. Strong suddenly talked to me using a finger puppet while I was trying to sign out a camera to shoot for a past project.

My goal when making this video was to use thematic storytelling and have a full beginning, middle, and end to a short story. My video was about the leader of a group of evil substitute teachers substituting for Mr. Strong one day.
This was also very fun to film, although the filming period did last quite a while, as it's one of my longer works (a whopping 5 minutes). This was probably one of my more difficult projects as a videographer, and I learned that I didn't need to spend too much effort to create a good story. Originally, when I was writing the script for this video, I wanted to have it take place in a large city and have two separate spy organizations try and outwit one another. Obviously, that didn't work out, but I told a good story regardless.
"Because it sucked."
The goal for this video was to make a somewhat quick documentary about pretty much any subject. At first, one of the people in the group wanted to do a documentary about a member of the school staff, one of his personal friends, it seemed. Unfortunately, the aforementioned staff member wasn't available at all during the time we were assigned to shoot this documentary, and we ended up switching topics at the very end of the time we were assigned to shoot. This led to major complications and a sub-par documentary about the first day of high school, which I am not nearly as proud of as my other works.
I learned that sometimes, less amount of people in a group can be a good thing. After that project, there we only two people in my group instead of three. This greatly improved communication and efficiency throughout my future projects shown above. I was inspired by one of the other student's documentary project and tried my best to have a similar style, but, again, there were complications.
"That's not my friend's number..."
The goal of this film was to use a combination of different camera angles. That was basically it. There needed to be a hint of plot, and that was accomplished with ease. This video is about me simply walking to the bleachers during a "football game" and calling my friend asking him why he isn't hear. But suddenly, I realized that it wasn't him that I was calling, but a mystery man!
This was inspired by many different scenes in professional Hollywood films where a character is in an important phone call, like this one from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

This was the first video that I've ever made, and it definitely is not my best. However, I must admit, it does have some charm to it and I was proud of it at the time. Our task was to create a PSA that could be shown to our fellow students. Mine was about managing stress.
This was the first time that a lot of us in that class had even held a video camera like the ones we used, so needless to say not everyone got the hang of it right away. However, we did learn a lot about shooting video, extracting it from the SD card in the camera and editing it on one of the PC's in the classroom using Adobe Premiere. I was inspired by the many drug PSA's that I've seen be made fun of in comedy skits on YouTube. This is one of the many PSA's
The most influential thing that I learned while in Video 1 was learning how to edit videos. I have recently come to the conclusion that I would like to acquire the same program that we've used in this class (Adobe Premiere Pro) and start editing videos on my own time.
Some of the other things I learned included camera angles, which I used quite often in my works. I really do think it brings a simple conversation to a new level. Script writing was one of my favorite things to do other than editing in this class. It really enabled me to be just as creative as I could ever dream of being. Unfortunately, I didn't have the resources to accomplish some of the things I detailed in my scripts, but that didn't take away from the fun of writing them at all.
One of the other skills I learned about was three point lighting, which I didn't get to use in any of my productions, but I learned where to set up the key, fill, and back light. By the looks of it, this will definitely make my videos seem a lot more professional-looking and really make what's happening on screen pop.
