In the frame of »Liebestod« deufert&plischke have met with people to speak about love, about experiences that hurt, stories that ended not well. We have met people that had just arrived and were enjoying the possibilities of a new city. We visited elderly people unable to leave the institution that takes care of them. All of them love and live differently. All of them have loved and suffered because of love. We have spent hours together, telling each other our stories, laughing, crying. Some of these stories have been written down for »Liebestod«.
Rasha Nahas and Alain Franco composed songs from the stories.
Martin Hansen, Kareth Schaffer, Roni Katz, Shade Theret, Anna Posch (from left to right) translated the stories into dance sequences that were choreographed by deufert&plischke into duets, trios and group scenes.
Roni Katz and Kareth Schaffer and (hidden) Shade Theret.
Roni Katz, Shade Theret and costume/stage designer Valentina Primavera (yellow cap) who did an amazing work with delicate quotes to fashion history.
Anna Posch who is also the artistic assistant.
The performance is like a songbook of missed encounters, bad dates, bad sex, auto correct mishaps, political separation, lies, laughs, a washing machine kiss and the list goes on... Performing this project we want to give these stories the power and energy they need in order to be revitalized as a moment in a life that remains imperfect, that is not as planned, that is stained and over before it even begins: the life of love.
In every city Liebestod will be performed, we will also invite for workshops, to encounter more love stories, to remember, tell, laugh, cry.
A big thank you to all the authors, for their courage, their sense of humor, their power of expression and their willingness to share what is unspeakable and which now enters the stage.
