Tallant Honored for Leadership

Texas A&M University-Kingsville President, Dr. Steven Tallant was honored this week at a farewell reception hosted at our Citrus Center. Tallant was honored for his outstanding leadership and support.

Grant Award Provides Valuable Ranch Management Training

King Ranch® Institute for Ranch Management (KRIRM) graduate students recently completed an External Practitioner-Led Workshops Program, concluding a unique training experience with leading ranching industry experts. With generous support from a grant awarded by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ (HLSR), ranch management graduate students participated in this exclusive KRIRM student program.

The External Practitioner-Led Workshops Program provided three trainings in the areas of ranch and managerial accounting, as well as extensive mentoring workshops connecting students with industry professionals representing some of the nation’s most complex ranching operations. These workshops, funded by a grant award from HLSR, are designed to complement the students’ ranch management graduate curriculum, empowering them with tools and resources to strategically manage complex ranching operations.

Workshop on "Data Carpentry with Python" held in Engineering Building

The DataUp program compliments the current efforts of the South Big Data Innovation Hub's "Keeping Data Science Broad" series to expand individuals capacity for data science. As part of the DataUp program, the Data Carpentries provided two-day training workshops in September to train A&M-Kingsville students, faculty, staff and researchers. They were trained in fundamental data science techniques in ecology, as well as connect individuals to the South Hub network for further collaboration opportunities.

Texas A&M-Kingsville football resumes Lone Star Conference play when it hosts No. 12 MSU Texas to wrap up the month-long homestand.

Javelina Baseball Walk-On Tryouts Postponed

Due to unfavorable conditions at Nolan Ryan Field, the Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball walk-on tryouts have been postponed.

The tryouts were rescheduled from last month due to inclement weather, but will now be rescheduled for later this month once proper field conditions are met. Those who are still interested can reach out to assistant coach Philip Middleton at Philip.Middleton@tamuk.edu and will still need a signed copy of the sickle cell waiver form, will need to be registered full-time at TAMUK and will need a copy of a recent physical within the last calendar year prior to participating in the tryouts.
