Mrs. Pfeiffer's fabulous news! March 16, 2018

Reading

This week we continued reading, "Woods Runner." This novel does a great job integrating the fictional story of Samuel with non-fiction elements that show the students what life would have been like during this era. Samuel is using his survival skills while searching for his parents.

Math

This week we have been working on some measurement and data skills. The students have been reviewing area, perimeter, conversions, angles, and line plots. We will be taking an area and perimeter quiz today. Next week we will start Unit 7.

Kids Day on the Farm

A Reminder note is coming home today regarding Kids Day on the Farm next Thursday. We will be at the Kankakee Fairgrounds. Please keep in mind we will be sitting on concrete floors and straw bales. We will be going outside to see animals so please keep an eye on the weather as to what is best that day. (March weather has been unpredictable!) Please send your student with a disposable lunch. We will not have anywhere to keep extra items. I am very excited for this fun day!

Writing

Our writing unit has been focusing on how to research information and pick out the most important items. This unit will be very beneficial as we begin preparing for the Living Museum in May. Next week we will be sending home some information about the date of this fun event and letting students start thinking about the requirements of this project!
