How too make healthy quarantine snacks Ella Bloomingdale

Due to the spread of Coronavirus throughout the United States and more recently in Fairfield County, schools have been closed down. The government has advised everyone to stay quarantined in their home. While being home all day, snacking can become an issue. But instead of snacking on chips and donuts, preparing your own healthy snack can help you stay in shape and avoid the unhealthy alternatives. In addition, these healthier snacks will fill you up, give you a sufficient amount of energy through your day while doing online school work, and making them can be a fun activity while stuck at home.

Yogurt Bark

Step one: Ingredients → Yogurt, honey (or any other sweetener of choice), blueberries (or any other fruit of choice), and granola, a pan and tinfoil

Step two: Place an appropriate sized piece of tin foil on your pan. After this, with a spoon, place yogurt onto the tin foil and spread a thick even layer across the whole pan. Next, take your blueberries and granola, and sprinkle it evenly on top of your yogurt. Next, take your honey, and drizzle it over top to add a nice sweet taste. The best thing about this snack is it can be customized. You can use any fruit of your choice, and you can even substitute the granola for something such as pretzels. When this is all done, place the bark in the freezer for about 30 minutes.

Step three: After about 30 minutes, take your bark out of the freezer and remove the tin foil from your pan. With a knife, lightly slice the bark into appropriate sized pieces. If you want, you can add an additional drizzle of honey, and enjoy! This snack is refreshing, sweet, healthy and very easy to make.

Zucchini Chips

Step one: Ingredients → Zucchini, Garlic Powder, Parmesan Cheese, Seasoned Salt, Trader Joe’s Everything Bagel Seasoning, tin foil, and a pan.

Step two: Before you start to prepare this snack, start by preheating your oven to 375 degrees. After this, use a knife and slice your zucchini into thin slices. Cover in a small splash of oil, and now it's time to combine our slices. Now, put these aside, and it's time to combine our spices.

Step three: In a medium sized bowl, we are now going to combine our spices. In the bowl, will go one tablespoon of Parmesan, 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon of seasoned salt, and 1/4 a teaspoon of everything bagel seasoning. Mix up the spices, and one at a time place a zucchini slice into the bowl, and flip it over so it is all covered. After each one, place the zucchini slices onto a prepared pan with tin foil on top.

Step four: After all of your zucchini is placed onto the pan, place the zucchini into the oven for about 10-15 minutes.

Step five: After the time is up, take out your zucchini and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes. After you have let it sit, you can plate it. You can sprinkle extra spices on it or extra everything bagel seasoning on top for more flavor if that is desired. Now that your zucchini chips are done, enjoy! This light and tasty snack can be a great clean alternative to chips.

Spicy Tuna Cucumber Bites

Step one: Ingredients → Cucumbers, Greek Yogurt, Tuna, Mayonnaise, Sriracha, Soy Sauce, Salt, Pepper, Everything Bagel Seasoning and a Red Onion.

Step Two: We are first going to start off with making your sauce. In a small bowl, you are going to add three tablespoons of mayonnaise, one tablespoon of sriracha, ¼ cup of Greek yogurt, two tablespoons of soy sauce, and a dash of salt and pepper. Mix up your sauce until it is smooth. Then, in another bowl, you are going to add tuna, and little of your red onion (add as much or as little as you want). After both are mixed combine the two and mix again.

Step three: Put the mixture in the fridge for a few minutes and let it cool while we move onto the next step. Next, we are going to be cutting the cucumbers. Cut the cucumbers into medium sized slices, and then spread them out on a plate.

Step four: After you have plated your cucumbers, take your mixture back out of the fridge and use a small spoon to place the mixture on top. After you have done this, an optional step is to add a sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning on top. Now, you're done! This snack is healthy and very easy to make with no freezing or baking required. It is refreshing from the cucumbers and spicy from the sriracha and overall has a very tasty blend of flavors and spices.

Overall, all of these snacks are delicious, easy to make, and overall very healthy. These snacks will help you cut down from snacking at home and can provide a fun activity to do in between your online work, or during your spare time.
