abandoned in the mid north jan pudney

In March 2019, using Gladstone as my base, I spent four days photographing ruins and abandoned buildings in the mid north of South Australia. The area was settled in the 19th century by migrants from Europe (England, Ireland and Germany) who were searching for a new life as miners or farmers, and to be free from religious persecution or hardship. They battled against a harsh climate and landscape in isolated small towns, settlements and homesteads.. Some succeeded but many failed or moved on, leaving behind the remnants of where they had lived and woshipped.
