West Hill Primary School weekly Newsletter 8th april 2020

Dear West Hill Families,

We have decided to keep the school open during the Easter holidays for children of key workers. Mrs Carmen and Team C have been doing a fantastic job and we are very grateful to the staff for their commitment and hard work at this difficult time.

This week the children have been busy taking part in craft activities; making pen pots and book marks. They have been on mini-beast and nature hunts and have been using Google Earth to take virtual tours rather than actually visiting new places! At the end of last week the childrenĀ didĀ an Easter egg hunt, helped Dan with some gardening and planted purple carrots, radishes, pumpkins, tomatoes, sunflowers and sweet peas. We also took some chalk to the pavement outside the school and decorated it with rainbows and messages for the NHS.

The school will not be open across the bank holiday weekend which will enable the children to have some time at home and the teachers to have a well needed break too.

From Monday 20th April BBC Bitesize will be providing some excellent online resources to support your children's home learning. #BBCBitesizedaily will deliver a tailored day of learning for all different age groups. You will be able to access these resources via the red button @BBCBitesize, @BBCFour, @BBCSounds App and Website. These will be totally free and age appropriate.

West Hill Teachers will also be sending out a weekly set of suggested creative activities for your child to do at home as part of their home learning.

As parents, you know your children the best. You know how much 1:1 work is too much, and you know their mental state. If going for a walk, baking and watching movies are best, then you have our permission to do that. Please do not obsess over completing all the activities we set, or battle with your children to force them to complete them. These are scary, uncertain times, and your children need your attention, love and support.

If you have concerns about the welfare or safety of a child during this time please call social services MASH team: 02088716622
