Father Michael Foley Honoring #HeroPriests

Father Michael Foley, Our Lady of the Woods, Orland Park, IL

Father Mike is a pastor in close touch with his flock. From the very beginning of this pandemic, he has communicated in various ways, including weekly videos (23 now), each from a different location within the church and parish grounds…very refreshing! Father's presentations are informative, thoughtful, thought-provoking and most sincere. He also has weekly letters which provide spiritual guidance, much food for thought and he always exhibits compassion in videos and writings. Besides the above, one can always go to the bulletin for more uplifting and informative updates from his Pastor's letter. My husband Dan and I look forward to his communications and have some deep faith-sharing, uplifting conversations.

Our church opened to required limited seating and Mass time adjustments in mid-June. Registration and sanitizing of our church has been top-notch. We have had faithful volunteers for greeting and cleanup for liturgies, which now include weddings, baptisms and funerals. How come? It starts with great, caring and ever-faithful leadership from the pastor, which trickles down to staff and parishioners.

I have told him personally that he is working hard to feed his flock during this most challenging time in our history. I feel blessed to have ministered with him as Pastoral Associate until I retired. We are so fortunate to have Father Mike Foley as our pastor. He exemplifies profound pastoral leadership as God's good and faithful servant. His love for his flock is evident.
