Shakespeare's Life. Devon Craig

Thesis: Shakespeare's life has been a journey from his early life, mid life, and late life in many different ways.

Early Life

Quote #1: “William Shakespeare was baptized at Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-upon-Avon on April 26, 1564.He was born on or near April 23, 1564.By 1592, Shakespeare apparently attracted the hostile attention of a jealous rival.”

Commentary: This shows when he was born and where he was born.

Quote #2: “Julius Caesar is an early play. It was one of the tragedies that he wrote during his second period of artistic development and was probably written and first performed in 1599. It was not published until 1623.”

Commentary: This shows that he made a play about Julius Caesar and it was one of the early plays that he made.

Mid Life

Quote #3: “During Shakespeare’s time, the English cared little about keeping biographical information unrelated to affairs of the church or state. In addition, playwriting was not a highly regarded occupation, and so people saw little point in recording the lives of mere dramatists.”

Commentary: This shows that in his mid life the english didn't care about poetry or plays at this time in life.

Quote #4: “William Shakespeare’s mother was born Mary Arden. She was the daughter of a farmer but related to a family of considerable social standing in the county. John Shakespeare married Mary Arden about 1557.”

Commentary: This shows that Shakespeare got married and found love at this time in his life.

Late Life

Quote #5: “Shakespeare has had enormous influence on culture throughout the world. His works have helped shape the literature of all English-speaking countries. His work has also had an important effect on the literary cultures of such countries as Germany and Russia.”

Commentary: This shows that he had a big influence on the earth all the way up until to day.

Quote #6: “Throughout the 1590’s, Shakespeare’s reputation continued to grow. From 1594 to 1608, he was fully involved in the London theater world. In addition to his duties as a sharer and actor in the Lord Chamberlain’s Men, he wrote an average of almost two plays a year for his company.”

Commentary: This shows that his reputation was growing and he was getting more popular and his company became bigger than ever.
