What happens to the cell?

The cancer cell gets bigger throughout the colon in each stage and then spreads to other parts of the body.

How can it be prevention?- staying active, eating healthy

  • Medication- Oxaliplatin: used to slow or stop cancer cell growth.
  • Surgery- Surgical removal of a lymph node and removal of all or a part of the colon
  • Chemotherapy and Radiation is required
  • Nutrition: eliminate junk food
  • Lifestyle Choices: staying active, eating healthy

  • Tests- CT scan, ultrasound, MRI, PET scan

  • 20% of colon cancers are found after the disease has spread to distant organs.
  • 95% of deaths from colon cancer occur in people 50 or older.
