Dear Patton Families,
Today we begin our third week of school, and we are settling into a nice rhythm. We are looking forward to our live virtual Back To School Night and Q&A Webinar scheduled for Thursday, September 23 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM. A detailed schedule of this important event is shown below. We will be sending out specific teacher links for each class next week. We encourage parents to view the event with their child(ren). We will be using Google Meet video conferencing links, requiring students to log their parents in using the student’s login credentials. We will go over this procedure during our live Q&A webinar leading up to the teacher presentations. I will also be providing additional detail in next week’s newsletter. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
We will be activating our First Ten program starting Tuesday, September 14th. First Ten is a program to help our students reset and focus during the first 10 minutes of the last period of the day. First Ten allows our building to be silent on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2:05 - 2:15 PM. Students use this time to read silently or work on our online math practice program called Get More Math. After First Ten, students use the remainder of the period to meet with teachers, work on homework, or study with peers. We do not use First Ten on Mondays and Fridays. Mondays are when we do social and emotional learning activities during the last period of the day, and Fridays are when we do fun team activities, usually outside.
Finally, as we continue striving to keep our students and staff safe from the COVID-19 virus, we are not permitting students to ride any other bus other than their assigned bus. Unfortunately, this means that students are not allowed to ride home with a friend on another bus.
Have a great day! GO HAWKS!

Meet the Counselors!
As we are getting settled into the new school year, Patton’s school counselors wanted to take the opportunity to introduce ourselves. The school counselors are very lucky in that we loop with our students and get to know them during all three years of middle school. If at any time you have questions, concerns, or just need some help, please do not hesitate to reach out to one of us. As the school year progresses, we will use the Counselor’s Corner to share information about upcoming events in the school and community, share resources, and different opportunities for students.
Hello! My name is Cara Malone and I am the 6th grade school counselor this year. This is my fourth year at Patton; although I worked previously as a substitute counselor at Patton and am also a parent of three former Patton students. I am looking forward to getting to know the class of 2028 and to follow them during their time at Patton. Sixth Grade is an exciting year for students. They are exploring a new school, new classes, and are gaining a newfound independence. This year I will be meeting with the 6th graders in small groups to introduce myself and get to know them. Students are also able to reach out to me at any time for an individual meeting. Additionally, I will be going into the classroom to do some career exploration activities and social-emotional learning lessons. My hope for all of my students this year is for them to grow emotionally, experience pride in their schoolwork, make some new friends, take some risks (and possibly make mistakes and learn from them), and build some fun memories of Patton Middle School. If you would like to reach out to me anytime, please do not hesitate. My contact information is: email@example.com and 601-347-2000 ext.3825.
Hello! My name is Rachel Saletta and I am the 7th grade school counselor this year for the class of 2027. This is my fourth year at Patton Middle School. I started to get to know the class of 2027 last year and am looking forward to learning even more about them. This year, the 7th graders will participate in different career exploration activities, Social-Emotional learning lessons, minute meetings with me, and more! If at any time, you or your child would like to speak with me, please reach out to me via phone or email. My office phone number is 610-347-2000 ext. 3819 and my email is firstname.lastname@example.org. Students are also able to stop by the counseling suite if they need to talk.
Hello Patton families! My name is Tim Huxta and I am the 8th grade counselor (class of 2026). This will be my second year here at Patton. Although last year certainly was a challenge for many, I thoroughly enjoyed working with this class of students and getting to know them. I am looking forward to another fantastic school year! This year, our eighth graders will be participating in career activities, lessons on Social-Emotional topics and beginning to get ready for their transition to high school. Students can talk to me by either scheduling a time to meet via email or just by stopping by the guidance office. My email is email@example.com and my phone number is 610-347-2000 ext. 3827.

It Just Takes $10
We are excited to kick off the new school year and get back to what the PTO does best - investing in the students and staff of CFPMS! For the past two years our largest fundraiser, the Spring Carnival was cancelled. With savings, we purchased an outdoor tent classroom, provided teachers with a classroom subsidy, and much more.
We are humbly asking each family that can, to contribute $10 to support the work of the PTO. Gifts can be made here: charles-f-patton-middle-school-pto.square.site
