In February 1945, the "Big Three" which are the Allied leaders, met at Yalta. They are Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin. They were talking about Europe's future after the war. They were wondering about Germany's future. They agreed to divide Germany into four zones each runned by an Allied Power.
On April 12, 1945 Pressident Roosevelt died, and Vice President Harry S. Truman took office. MacArthur wanted to drop atomic bombs on Chinese bases and supply lines to bring a quick victory. President Truman opposed MacArthur's plan. President Truman was afraid that it would lead into a larger war. MacArthur was criticizing the president, and he said that he kept from doing his job. President Truman removed him.
