MINUSTAH Military Component Holiday Activities December 2016

MINUSTAH's military contingents did several holiday events for children in and around Port-au-Prince this year. Below are highlights of several of those events.


MINUSTAH's Brazilian Battalion hosted Christmas activities for children near their compound in Cite Soleil, Dec. 23, 2016. Activities included coloring books, soccer, martial arts demonstrations, jump rope and other games. Approximately 150 children participated in the festivities.

The Bangladesh aviation unit conducted an outreach activity at Al Bayyinah Pernier Orphanage, Pernier, Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. This outreach included providing food to 42 children between ages 3-12 years.

MINUSTAH’s Argentinian Hospital staff and military staff officers from force headquarters held a Christmas event at the Notre Maison orphanage for disabled children in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Dec. 24, 2016.

Troops from MINUSTAH's Brazilian Engineering Company and 20th Philippine Contingent visited the Intitute Sacre Coeur de Jesus at Port-Au-Prince, Haiti on Dec. 24, 2016. The children enjoyed entertainment and food provided by the contingent and toys provided by the force commander and his wife.

Troops with the 20th Philippine Contingent visited the Missionaries of the Poor on Dec. 18, spreading holiday cheer to approximately 80 people.

Behind the Scenes

These events were made possible by a lot of hard work by soldiers in the contingents and coordination by military staff officers at MINUSTAH force headquarters. That effort was led by the Civil-Military Coordination element of the U-9 branch. On Dec. 23, MSOs gathered to wrap hundreds of gifts that would be distributed over the weekend.
