How to Enter Jerusalem Triumphaly A Worshippy Thingy for Palm Sunday

Greeting

With live worship suspended due to the corona virus, this offering is given in hopes of reaching your spirit when our bodies have to remain at a distance. It follows our regular worship service, but with a few alterations. The tech used is a bit "low", but I hope the high authenticity makes up for it.

Singing

(VERSE 1) Let's walk together for a while and ask where we begin to build a world where love can grow and hope can enter in. To be the hands of healing and to plant the seeds of peace...

(CHORUS) Singing welcome. Welcome to this place. You're invited to come and know God's grace. All are welcome, the love of God to share 'cause all of us are welcome here, all are welcome in this place.

(VERSE 2) Let's talk together of a time when we will share a feast, where pride and power kneel to serve the lonely and the least, and joy will set the table as we join hands to pray...

(CHORUS) Singing welcome. Welcome to this place. You're invited to come and know God's grace. All are welcome, the love of God to share 'cause all of us are welcome here, all are welcome in this place.

(VERSE 3) Let's dream together of the day when earth and heaven are one, a city built of love and light, the new Jerusalem, where our mourning turns to dancing, every creature lifts its voice...

(CHORUS) Singing welcome. Welcome to this place. You're invited to come and know God's grace. All are welcome, the love of God to share 'cause all of us are welcome here, all are welcome in this place.

Scripture

MAtthew 21:1-11
When they had come near Jerusalem and had reached Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, ‘Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to me. If anyone says anything to you, just say this, “The Lord needs them.” And he will send them immediately.’ This took place to fulfill what had been spoken through the prophet, saying, ‘Tell the daughter of Zion, Look, your king is coming to you, humble, and mounted on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’ The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them; they brought the donkey and the colt, and put their cloaks on them, and he sat on them. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and that followed were shouting, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!’ When he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was in turmoil, asking, ‘Who is this?’ The crowds were saying, ‘This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth in Galilee.’

Prayers

Sermon Song

(VERSE 1) "Blessed is he who comes in God's name!" cried the excited crowd. Spreading their cloaks they welcomed a King; "Peace" they said "here and now".

(VERSE 2) As the great city came into view Jesus began to cry. "Would that you knew the makings of peace!" he uttered with a sigh.

(VERSE 3) They did not hear him; neither do we. Might is our golden calf. We would see Jesus equipped with a sword; not with a shepherd's staff.

(VERSE 4) Peace is not gained trough posture or threat. Justice is not a game. Come Christians, turn; surrender the pride; repent in Jesus' name.

Singing

(VERSE 1) My feet are strong, my eyes are clear, I cannot see the way from here. But on we go, He knows the way, and in his arms he keeps me safe.

(CHORUS) Fear not, keep on, watch and pray. Walk in the light of God's highway.

(VERSE 2) The shadows flee, the valley's deep, but evil cannot conquer me. Your rod and staff, they protect me. You give me rest, you give me peace.

(CHORUS) Fear not, keep on, watch and pray. Walk in the light of God's highway.

(VERSE 3) I see the shore, from troubled seas, this tiny ship that carries me. It is not yet, but it will be. So, heaven come it's you we need.

(CHORUS) Fear not, keep on, watch and pray. Walk in the light of God's highway.

(CODA) I'm holding on to You. You're holding on to me. (repeat)

(CHORUS) Fear not, keep on, watch and pray. Walk in the light of God's highway.
