Mrs. Hundertmark's Weekly News Week of October 26, 2020

Just a Note

On Thursday afternoon, we had a "meet and greet" with our new students. It was so great to meet them! Several of you already know them from kindergarten or your neighborhoods. Welcome to our classroom!

With the transfer of students from one classroom to another, there may come some issues with Schoology. If for some reason there is a problem, please remember that you can access our Google Meet by entering our nickname to "join a meeting" from your child's chromebook. The nickname is "arc_hundertmark_1".

Seesaw Blog

I wanted to make you aware that we have a Seesaw Blog. The Blog feature gives me the ability to post student work and other journal entries to share with the class. Students can comment on one another's posts to the Blog -- this is a way for them to communicate with one another directly!

FAQ's / Ideas to Share

I have created a Google doc with some FAQ's and ideas/information that could be helpful to all. It is posted on our classroom webpage. Here is the link:

Monday is the last day of their "work week"

Mondays start with Morning Meeting from 8:00 - 8:30 am. The rest of the day is Asynchronous. The activities that they MUST complete are in orange. The MAY dos are for after they've completed their MUST do's. All Must Do Activities on the Playlists and in Seesaw (***) are due on Monday afternoon.

Important Dates/Times

Friday, October 30th is the last day of the first marking period.

This week is a RED week for specials!

What We're Learning This Week

  • Reading. - Review skills learned in Building Good Reading Habits
  • Writing. - Review Skills learned in Small Moments Unit
  • Math - Review skills learned in Quarter 1
  • Social Science. - Seasonal Changes, Fall

Reminders

All work for the week should be completed by Monday afternoon. Activities from the previous week are typically archived on Monday evening to make room for the new week's activities and playlists.

Please remind your child to try to limit their bathroom/snack breaks to either our morning break, asynchronous, or movement time. Also, please encourage your child to be on time in the morning, after break and after specials. We get started right away. If they are not present they are marked absent or tardy and will be missing instruction. You understand the feeling of entering a meeting after it has already started. It is likely a bit uncomfortable for them and may be confusing. Of course, I understand that things happen (particularly in our current DL situation). But, please try to set a standard so that tardiness is the exception and not the rule.

Thank you for your continued support
