Happy New Year! Amherst celebrates the past and the future

The Town of Amherst celebrated the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020 with a Family First New Year's Eve Celebration at the Amherst Stadium on Dec. 31, 2019.

We celebrated with horse-drawn wagon rides, chili and hot chocolate.
Kids had fun drawing on the ice surface
Families enjoyed skating.
The band Liz and Ben - Dynamic Duo performed several hits from different decades
The music had folks dancing
Others celebrated by participating in the Glow in the Dark dance
Others brought in the new year by colouring in the activity room.
Some celebrated with noisemakers.
Some posed for selfies in their New Year's Eve regalia.
Everyone went outside where Mayor David Kogon wished everyone a happy new year, Auld Lang Syne was sung and the mayor, with the help of Coun. Wayne MacKenzie and a little helper, pushed down the plunger that ignited a fabulous fireworks show that ended the celebration.

Amherst town council and staff wish each and everyone a happy and prosperous new year.
