Napoleon's three mistakes By alexis and josh

The Continental System

This was a blockade designed by Napoleon to cripple Britain's by destroying their economy. The decrees of Berlin on November 21 1806 proclaimed a blockade: neutral and French allies were not to trade with the British. Napoleon did this to make him look strong if front of his people and to make his country look very powerful. This gained him a lot of support and people rallied around him to give him support.

The Peninsular Campaign

It lasted from 1808-1814. On napoleons road to total conquest he had to conquer Portugal but he had to move his troops through Spain. Spain had to feed Napoleons 100,000 troops in order to "support his invasion". Spanish citizens revolted, Napoleon saw this coming but he failed to see that it could never be shut down all the way. Britain now has a new ally through Spain because of Napoleons disrespect towards them.

The Invasion of Russia

The French'es invasion of Russia, was called the Patriotic War of 1812, by the Russians. It began on June 24, 1812. Napoleons Grande Arme'e crossed the Neman River in an attempt to engage the Russians and defeat them. Napoleon hoped to stop the Russians from trading with the British with this victory.
