In 1775 the continental congress adopts the Olive Branch Petition, written by John Dickison. He was trying to stay away from the final break with Britain. Congress attempted to notify the king that American colonists were unhappy with ministerial policy, not his own.

The French and Indian war is also known as the Seven Years’ War. It marked a long struggle between the Britain and France. When Frances expansion with the Ohio River Valley brought conflict with the Britain's and it started a war. The Britain's had victory's at Louisbourg, Fort Frontenac and the French-Canadian stronghold of Quebec.

The Stamp Act was passed by the British parliament on March 22nd, 1765. The new tax was forced on all American colonists and required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. All kinds of paper including Ship's papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, and even playing cards were taxed.

The Sugar act, also known as the American Revenue Act, was passed by the British Parliament in April of 1764. You were required to pay a tax of six pence per gallon on the importation of foreign molasses.

The Americans won the Boston Tea Party. This was the beginning of the war. It was the center of the Boston tax trade. On April 18,1775, General Thomas Gage ordered his subordinate to lead a detachment of troops to the town of concord.

The Americans won the Lexington and concord also. They fought on April 19, 1775. On the night of April 18, 1775, hundreds of British troops marched from Boston to nearby Concord in order to seize an arms cache. Paul Revere sounded the alarm with many other people also, that's when all this began. It started in Lexington and many battles took place but that's when the Americans won.

The British won the Bunker Hill war. On June 17, 1775 is when the battle happened. It happened in Massachusetts. On June 16, 1775 is when the British was planning to go and have a battle with them. There was 1,000 men that was sent to battle.

In September 1779, the Montreal war took place. This battle took place in Quebec,Canada, north of New York. The British won this war. The 13 original colonies won their war for independence against Britain

The Treaty of Paris was signed in Paris, France on September 3, 1783. This ended the revolutionary war and it gave colonies their independence from the Great Britain. The 13 states were now free and can now become United States of America.
