A Message from Suzanne Roth, Dean of Academics

We want to say a BIG THANK YOU to our St. Peter Parish for the additional use of St. Mary’s Hall during this transition time with our new building. It is wonderful to have our Media Center, with all of its many books, and our computer lab classes in St. Mary’s Hall. The teachers and students are enjoying their new space to read and learn about the different programs and ways that technology can enhance their learning process!

Mr. Kraus and Mrs. Johnson teach their coding enrichment class to 6th & 7th grade students in St. Mary's Hall.

Last Wednesday, we had our very first Teachers’ Assistants Teacher Learning Community, TLC, meeting! It was so nice to treat our assistants to a little breakfast and come together to learn from each other. Mrs. Jas and Mrs. Legendre led our discussions of how assistants help our teachers personalize learning for each of our students.

Thank you to all of our assistants for all that you do!

Assistants:

  • Offer one-on-one support
  • Work with small groups of students to help those who are struggling with a concept
  • Challenge students who need enrichment to take their learning even further
  • Provide minor adjustments to those students who have INC or service plans
  • Implement strategies
  • Walk around to monitor student understanding and redirect or reteach when needed
  • Are friendly and approachable
  • Do so much behind the scenes

Our students enjoy the extra TLC they give each day!

We know that our teachers’ assistants play a key role in helping to educate each and every one of our students in each and every one of their learning styles. We are blessed as our assistants support the teacher to ensure that all of the children receive the maximum benefit from the learning activities that the teacher designs for the class. They are able to have the opportunity to connect with each learner to help them to be a part of the learning process that best fits their needs.

When asked what brought them the most joy during their day … overwhelmingly our assistants responded, “Watching a child truly understand something that they have been struggling with.” Our teachers responded, “I couldn’t do it without the help of my assistant!

Important Information regarding ELA and Math Labs for 2nd - 7th Grade Students

We must have a minimum of 5 students to have ELA or Math Lab for a given day. If we do not have enough students for a day, an email will be sent to the parents.

O is for olive ... Mrs. Boudreaux's Kindergarten class tasted olives while studying the letter "O". Superkid Oswald likes odd animals and olives are odd to us!
Our 5th Grade Spirit Squad cheered at Mary Queen of Peace yesterday!
As we prepare for this year’s Family Fun Night, please consider donating a silent auction item or reaching out to a local business that may be interested in donating an item! Auction forms can be found at www.stpetercov.org.
St. Peter Girl Scouts had a great time at Camp Whispering Pines in Independence, LA this past weekend!

MORNING REMINDER: If you are parking at the church and walking your child to the pavilion gate in the morning, please use the sidewalks on Temperance Street. We have gotten several reports of children and parents walking in the street and we want everyone to stay safe.
