Pumpkin Carving With Students From UCLA and USC

At UCLA, we are regularly hosting events, gatherings, occasional worship (about 1x / month), and also discipleship pathways through my wife and my home in Westwood. We car students to worship regularly to surrounding churches, developing deeper partnerships with congregations. I preach throughout the city, building relationships with churches, sharing the vision, and building partnerships. I'm regularly on campus, and have a consistent presence at on campus coffee shops. We have about 8 students from UCLA, USC, SMC, and LMU engaging in relationship with me through an intentional discipleship pathway. In addition, about 15 students at UCLA who regularly come to events, dinners, gatherings at my house at different times are not of the faith.

In partnership with Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Winnetka, we started at gathering/meet-up at Bar Louie near Cal State Northridge, to discuss life and faith. This is a combination of college age individuals and young adults from various walks of life and at various places in their faith or spirituality. Currently a couple students (one from CSUN and one from Pierce college) engage within this larger group.

  • Launched first Discipleship Cohort on the Westside of LA for UCLA, USC, SMC, and LMU students.
  • Launched the young adult meetup in Northridge, CA.
  • The University Religious Conference gave us a significant grant to enhance our mission.

  • Thanksgiving Dinner at the Loos House! Any students who are not going home and need a place to enjoy a home-cooked thanksgiving meal are welcome!

Please pray for the collaborative effort of Pastor Bart Loos of the CMC-LA and Pastor Ben Mai of the University Lutheran Chapel at the University of California, San Diego, as they collaborate and move toward expanding the Campus Mission Coalition Pacific Southwest District - wide!
