Met Gala Looks 2018 What was hot and what was a flop?

For the 2018 Met Gala carpet, this year's board of directors chose the theme to be "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination" this theme sparked controversy, but the show went on-- and by the way, the theme received the official stamp of approval from the Vatican. The Met Gala (also known as the Met Ball) is a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Though this night has turned into more of a competition between celebrities for the best looks, and advertisements for designers... fans from across the globe love to assess the looks- just as I have. Here are my views on this year's best and worst Met Gala Looks. In no particular order, let us begin...

The Best of the Best- These two looks were just drop dead gorgeous. Not only did these designs match the theme, but they fit well, matched the personality of the celebrity, and were well-received by the general population.

One of my fashion icons, Rihanna broke the internet once again with her look, drop dead gorgeous! This dress is by the designer Margiela.
Blake Lively also stunned the crowd with her dress and if we are being honest, it was for good reason. This custom gown was designed by Versace.

Let us not forget about the men found at the MET Gala. The best dressed men were awarded this title for going out of the box. By this I mean not wearing a black and white tuxedo and throwing on a cross necklace. These men matched the theme and pulled together avant garde looks to stand out in a crowd of bland suits.

Chadwick Boseman in Versace

Best Hair and Makeup- This category explains itself. Though the celebrities mentioned may not have been my top picks for their outfit, I chose to acknowledge their outstanding hair and or makeup looks.

Jasmine Sanders' glam team did an amazing job with her face look, but her hair was a show-stopper!
Kate Bosworth stunned the red carpet with her “no makeup-makeup” look. She captured her angelic side with this look.
Rosie Huntington Whitely was not only killing it with her bold red lip and bronze smokey eye, but her halo was iconic!
Breaking out her her brunette comfort zone, this red, wavy bob was a big style change for Zendaya!

Best Dressed- This award is going to celebrities who just looked good for the event. Their looks did not necessarily match the theme, or were out of the box, but these celebrities just looked like they came to impress!

Ashley Graham was glowing and looking summer ready in this bronze gown.
Kim Kardashian went all out in this golden number.

Double-take- These looks were ones that left me thinking “what did I just see?” These were outfits that you have to look at a second time due to the fact that they are either not flattering on the celebrity, do not fit the theme in the slightest, or just looked bad.

This look was giving me intergalactic vibes...
What is going on here?
Selena Gomez
Kate Moss

This year proved to be another interesting one for outfits that designers had to offer us in the realm of fashion. Though this year’s theme faced some backlash from those who found it offensive, the celebrities who attended the event did a swell job making the most of the theme. All critiques were of my own views on the outfits, but who wore your favorite look that night? What categories would you add for judgement?
