Sides Of Bridge
You will need to do this procedure 2 times for the 2 sides of your bridge.
Step 1: First, glue one end of a popsicle stick overlapping onto another popsicle stick and secure with a paper clip to hold it together.
How the popsicles should overlap
Step 2: Repeat Step 1 until you reach 30 inches of overlapped popsicle sticks secured with paper clips.
The highlighted line is a 30 inch line of popsicle sticks
Step 3: Repeat Step 1 until you reach 25 inches of overlapped popsicle sticks secured with paper clips.
The highlighted area is a 25 inch line of popsicle sticks
Step 4: On a table, lay out the 25 inch line above the 30 inch line. Center the 25 inch line above the 30 inch line.
Step 5: To put the lines of popsicle sticks together, take one popsicle stick with a dot of glue on each end and connect each end of the popsicle stick with one end of both popsicle stick lines. Repeat on the other end and secure with paper clips on both sides.
Highlighted area are the popsicle sticks connecting the stick lines
Step 6: After the frame of the side is dry, take a popsicle stick and put glue on each end. Place one end of the popsicle stick on the top corner of the frame and put the other end diagonally going left on the bottom of the frame.
Highlighted area of how the first popsicle support is placed
Step 7: Take another popsicle stick and put glue on both sides. Overlap one end on the end of the other popsicle stick on the bottom of the frame. Place the other end diagnolly going right on the top of the frame. The 2 sticks overlapping will form a V inside the frame.
The highlighted parts show the 2 supports overlapping in a V inside the frame
Step 8: Repeat steps 6 and 7 all the way across the frame. It should look like Vs next to each other inside the frame. After gluing the V shapes inside the frame, secure each end with paper clips. These are the supports for the sides.
The highlighted parts show the V shaped supports
Step 9: Now, take a popsicle stick and put glue on both ends. Place the popsicle stick inside the V shape. One side overlapping on the bottom of the V, and the other end on the top part of the frame. Secure both ends with paper clips.
The highlighted part shows where the popsicle stick should be placed
Step 10: Repeat step 9 on all of the V shapes as well as all of theupside down V shapes next to each other in the frame and secure with paper clips.
The highlighted areas show where the extra supports should be placed
You have now finished one side of your bridge. Repeat for the other side.
This process will be repeated on both the top and bottom of the bridge
Step 1: After both of the sides of your bridge are fully dry, remove all of the paper clips.
Step 2: Next, take both sides and sit them up on a table so they are aligned. Put 2 tissue boxes in between the 2 sides and wrap 3 rubber bands around the whole bridge on both sides and in the middle. When you wrap the rubber band around it, the band is around both sides and the tissue box in the middle.
The highlighted areas show where the rubber bands wrapped around
Step 3: After the rubber bands are on, take a popsicle stick and put glue on both ends and glue it on the edge of one side and go diagnolly left on the edge of the other side.
The highlighted area shows where to glue the stick
Step 4: Overlap another stick opposite from step 3 so it forms an X shape.
Step 5: Repeat steps 3 and 4 all the way across the top.
Step 6: Let the top fully dry, then flip the bridge over and repeat the process on the bottom.
Step 7: Let bridge dry for at least 7 hours. After it is fully dry, remove the rubber bands and tissue boxes.
You have now successfully finished your bridge. This should be the end result.
