Watakie Worries

What dangers do you see as a person stranded on this deserted island. Be specific and explain your answers.

Map.

We were stranded on the island fend for ourselves and and we were all given a job to protect and help and watch out for one another. We had specific rules for one another travel in pairs, do not go out at night, share resources with one another, clean up after yourselves, communicate effectively, do your job, and the most important one of all do not kill each other.

The island dangers I see on the island is the lack of resources. The other problems there are is how long we will be on the island. I'm also worried about the animals there if we get in a situation there could be serious problems. There is a worry of the amount of water on the island. There could be hallucination you could see things that aren't really there and you could get dehydrated.

The Characters of "The Lord of The Flies" are ,Ralph is the chief/leader, Piggy is the fat boy, Jack leader of the choir, Simon 6 year old boy apart of the choir, Johnny apart of choir, Sam one of the twins, Eric the other twin, Bill apart of choir, Robert also apart of choir, Harold is in the choir, Henry in choir, Roger also in choir. The whole choir are hunters for everyone.

1.Travel in a pair. 2.Don't go out at night. 3.Share resources. 4. Clean up after yourself. 5.Communicate effectively. 6.Do your job. 7.Don't kill each other.

In my opinion The most important rule out of all of them is "don't go out at night" because you could get lost or you could get in a dangerous situation and know one could help you. Another reason is because you could find food and just eat it for yourself the right thing to do is to share with the group and not just yourself because the more food the group gets the better chance of getting off the island all together and all in one piece.

The setting contributes to the theme by it saying on (pg 49) that jack "raised his spear and sneaked forward" then it said jack "swung back his right arm and hurled the spear with all his strength from the pig run came the quick, hard patter of hoofs." (49) so that tells me that he is trying to kill to kill a pig for food. It also says that Ralph had been working on the shelter all day while others had been playing and swimming on pg(51). I also think that in the text that by it saying that that the little ones at night are having nightmares from being on the island tells me that they have been on there for a while and it says at the beginning that Jacks hair is longer and lighter then the first day they got on the island(.

Arrow that jack was going to kill the pig with.
This is to show the fire coming down on the mountain at the beginning of the book.

Some of the kids on the island think that the beast is a ghost but Simon had a nightmare and he described the beast On page (85) as saying "I was outside the shelter by myself in the dark and the twisty things had gone away". Then it says that "I saw something moving among the trees, something big and horrid". Then on page (89) it says that someone said "maybe he means some sort of ghost." And on page (90) someone also says "perhaps the beast is-a ghost".

The boys are interrupting each other when they do not have the conch and the are being disrespectful too each other and breaking the rules (101). The boys are just acting like they do not care anymore and seem to act like they don't wont to be rescued (102). And it also says that the boys are going to go and hunt the beast but all along the boys have been scared so that shows me that they don't care anymore and they don't care if they get hurt now.

Represents the Beast

In chapter 6 Ralph, Jack, Roger and all the big un's went to the "castle" and when they went all the boys liked it they started to push rocks off the cliff and where having a blast but Ralph noticed something in the water it was pink granite and there was a pink granite looking table. When Ralph said it was time to go back Roger said " We've got plenty of time!" that showed me that Roger thinks that they are never going to be rescued so and also all the boys where bummed that they were having to leave and to back to the mountain. I think that there isn't a beast because they went to the rocks and found nothing but all the boys except Ralph and Simon have supposedly seen the beast but in my opinion i think that the boys are starting to see things from being on the island and they are basically going crazy.

looks pink so i put this picture in my blog because it reminds me of pink granite rock.
The path to the cliff.
The woods where the beast possibly lives if there is one.?

Choose a character, either Ralph or Jack and explain the effect seeing the Beast has on the character you have chosen. Use textual information to support your answer. Jacks effect on seeing the beast is when the group split up the big un's went with jack and piggy and the twins stayed with Ralph. Well Jack and the big kids saw a pig and decided to kill it but before they did jack said that they will leave something for the beast so it will not bother them "maybe" (133). I see that it said the word "maybe" that told me that jack is still kind of frightened by the beast. When jack and the boys left the pigs head on the stick Simon saw everything and started to see the pig start talking to him but when the pig started talking to him the pig said "You are a silly little boy, Just an ignorant silly little boy" (143) then the pig said "Fancy thinking the beast was something you could hunt and kill!" What it was saying was that the beast was in there minds the whole time there never was a beast.

Retell in your own words what has happened to Simon. Use textual evidence to help you create a vivid paragraph. In chapter 9 there was a big and tragic death in the book. What happened in chapter 9 was that Jack and his group had a feast and mid way through the feast Piggy and Ralph came and got some of the pig they cooked well Jack started to ask if everyone has had enough of the pig and no one responded so jack thought everyone was done well a little bit after Jack and Ralph started to argue because Jack said listen to your chief and if you remember in the beginning everyone chose Ralph to be the chief. A little bit before the argument Simon went to the top of the mountain and saw the dead parachute rand he untangled all of the cords from the rock that made everyone think that there was a beast so Simon decided to go down and tell everyone that there wasn't a beast it was just a dead parachuter. So when jack and Ralph were arguing it started to rain big water droplets so jack and the boys started to chant and dance in a big circle well during the chant one of the little kids yelled "a beast" and everyone turned and it was Simon but everyone did not Know it was him so Jack started to say "kill the beast! cut his throat! spill his blood" so the boys started to beat Simon and they didn't know it so Simon was yelling trying to tell them that it was him and there was no beast and eventually the boys beat Simon to death and they did not know it.

In life people create groups. These groups might be at school, in sports, in extracurricular activities, and through religious organizations. Explain what needs groups fill for people. Explain both the positive and negative aspects of being part of a group. You may relate this to our novel, or you may make it a person reflection of your own experience. The positive and negative aspects about being in a group is when you are in a certain group such as sports, jobs etc you can get a good recommendation for a job in the future or even for a sports team and being in a group can also make the chance of getting a credit in high school. A negative aspect about being in a group is the time that you need to put in when you are in a group maybe you will not have enough time to be in that group and you may have to take enough time out of your day just to still be in the group.

“Which is better - to have rules and agree, or to hunt and kill?”

Using this quote, take a stand. Pick a side and explain why your decision is best on this island here at the end of Chapter 11. Don’t forget to use textual evidence to support your answer. In my opinion i think to have rules and agree is more important than to hunt and kill because if you agree and have rules you can be more effective by doing things such as building a fire or even hunting i also think that with rules you can make certain boundaries for someone and even for yourself with rules you can still do everything just in a orderly fashion.

"Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood!" i chose this quote because it shows the reader that this is the chant for Jacks tribe when either they kill something or when they have a dinner/ feast around the fire. And it was what the tribe was chanting when they killed Simon. This is a good quote because it can show the reader the quote " Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood!" is actually a big affect in the book. When ever i heard that chant most of the time i thought something bad was going to happen and most of the time something did happen. This quote can also provide textual evidence for a reader because whenever this chant appeared in the book there always was a big turn around in the book.

I chose this picture from the book because it is a big affect for the reader and author because it represents the title of the book "the lord of the flies". I think that this picture is a good representation for the book it self and for Simon when he was at the cave and he was really hot and he thought that the pig was actually talking to him but he was all dreaming about it. This picture represents all of that. And when Ralph was going to the others camp he punched the pigs head and it split into two pieces Six feet apart from each other. This picture can also represent the spear sharpened at both ends.

Dear rising Eighth Grader, I hope that you will enjoy this novel as much as i did.

What did you think about the novel? What i thought about this novel was it was a great book my favorite part in the book was when Ralph and Jack got into a big argument an split into two tribes this was a big turn around in the book it lead to Simon's death and Piggy's.

Explain how you best enjoyed the novel: the British man, reading on your own, or me reading. During reading this book i like when the British man read because he was a good part of the book because the boys in the book where British and it just made the book more enjoyable.
