Brandon Foster "Aspiring Biologist"

Mission Statement

I want to be happy and healthy as much as possible. I plan to carry this out through doing for others out of love and compassion. I feel I should "Be the change I wish to see in the world." I see rising levels of discrimination, hatred, and discord throughout my days and fervently wish we (humans) could get back to our roots of loving one another because it is the right thing to do.

Biography

I was born and raised in Leesburg, FL aka the best place in Florida (Extremely biased opinion). I moved to Gainesvile, Fl in 2013 and am currently a full time Pre-Underwriter at Cabrillo Coastal General Insurance as well as a part time student at Santa Fe College. I am pursuing a degree in the biology field, although I'm not sure what I will do with it yet. I love life/science and want to know as much as I can about it. I hope to gain as much experience and wisdom from my current position in life. I have a wide variety of interest including: basketball, skateboarding, gaming, nature walks, climbing trees and modifying cars here and there. I like to be outdoors whenever possible even in Florida's insatiable heat.

It's Tie Tuesday!

Family, Friends, and Fun!

I value family, happiness, and close friends above all else. Family is the most important in my life because they are always there to guide and support me. I am fortunate enough to have great family members on both my paternal and maternal sides. Friends are important to me, because they are there for support when I need it most although I prefer to keep a small group of friends. I value quality over quantity. Morally I place value in being truthful and honest . Lying always comes back full circle and eradicates any chances of building trust. Work Ethic is very high on my list as well. My philosophy is : If you aren't willing to work hard for something, then you don't deserve to have it.

Career Goals

Working for Cabrillo Coastal and moving up the corporate ladder is the goal for now. My goals are always changing and growing as I mature. Currently my mentor from the claims department is giving me opportunities to show my work ethic. My goal is to outshine the rest by working harder, smarter, and longer(if need be) to show them I am the "Go-to Guy". I would like to work side by side with my mentor in the claims department one day. Although I love my job, I do not intend to work there indefinitely. I would like to start my own business but haven't quite figured out which field I would like to work in. I would like to make use of my biology degree, but it is not 100% necessary if I am happy and doing something I love.

Personal Goals

I would like to be financial stable by age 23 (shoot for the stars, might hit the clouds). My definition of financial stability is to be able to pay for anything that may arise out of the blue; something similar to a 6-month emergency fund. I would like to be able to make expensive purchases and not feel the immediate guilt or remorse afterwards. I would consider myself non-materialistic, but sometimes it helps to have concrete evidence of hard work. I want to be able to travel the world at the drop of a pin. Financial stability is a major goal for me because I tend to be impulsive and sporadic with my spending and would like to learn self-control. I would like to learn to express myself artistically as well, but I'm not sure where to start.

Be Water My Friend

This quote came from a man who left the world a little too early, the late Bruce Lee. Lee was a famous actor in Hollywood, but is better know creating his own martial art form, Jeet Kune Do (JKD), and his mysterious/wise philosophies. This quote reminds me to be myself at all times, but also that I can be anything I set out to be and that life is truly what you make of it. I like to think of the ripple effect and how a tiny droplet can start a movement. I want to be that droplet that radiates into something major.

The Great Outdoors

Do You Want to See the World?

I want to see as much of the world as I can in my relatively short life. I've traveled to Mexico, Hawaii, Jamaica, all throughout the United States, and shortly I'll be adding the Bahamas to the list. Unfortunately, I have yet to visit any countries on the other side of the globe. I would like to see China, Japan, Egypt, and Russia. I would visit China first for the business aspects of international trading. I would like to start my own business one day and believe visiting will bring me closer to that dream. The order is not important for the others.

I grew up watching a lot of anime and other oriental cartoons so it is safe to say I've been interested in the Asianic culture for a while. I have always revered the sense of respect shown to others, vast amounts of agriculture, morality, and peaceful nature that is portrayed. I have only experienced this culture through social media and what is readily available via internet. I simply must experience the culture first-hand. The following Ted Talk explains what I mean by "first hand experience." Enjoy!
