Your first day getting you ready for your first day at skycity

Before you start

By now, your manager should've been in touch to confirm your start time and meeting place. If you haven't done so already, please complete and return the following forms to us urgently:

  1. Request for Criminal History and IR330 Tax Code Declaration.
  2. If you wish to contribute to Kiwisaver, please complete and return the KS2 Kiwisaver Deduction form along with the above forms.

Our Learning & Development team will also have emailed you a link to our online compliance module. Please make sure you complete this before your first day.

Your first day

Getting to work

Public transport

SKYCITY Auckland is located on several main bus routes and is less than 10 minutes walk from Britomart Train Station and the ferry terminal. Visit www.at.govt.nz to find routes and timetables.

Employee car parking

If you've registered to pay for and use our employee car park, this is located on Federal Street, a short distance from Sky Tower and SKYCITY's 'Main Site' (see the Auckland site map below).

  1. When you arrive at the barrier arm, use your parking access card to enter the parking building.
  2. If you don't yet have your parking access card, press the button at the barrier arm to speak with a Parking Attendant who will let you into the building.*
  3. Park anywhere.

* A parking access card will be given to you at some point during your first day.

Finding your way around SKYCITY

Your manager or 'buddy' will give you an orientation tour of the business and introduce you to your team and key people, but we've also created a map to help you find your way around.

TIP: Save this map as an 'image' to your mobile device so you can easily refer back to it at a later date!

What to expect on your first day

  • You'll be given an Employee ID badge.
  • You'll be given a parking access card, if applicable.
  • You'll be shown how and where to find your roster and start times. Your roster will be available via our rostering app (for smart phone users), our employee kiosks and are also posted in designated locations for easy reference.
  • You'll be taken to the Scheduling Office to set up your finger scan, if applicable.
  • You'll visit our Wardrobe team to have a uniform ordered, if applicable.
  • You'll be given an overview of your induction and training plan and shown where to access the information and tools you'll require in your job.
  • Your manager will cover any policies or procedures that apply to you.

Scanning in and out of your shifts

Your manager or 'buddy' will show you where and how to scan in and out of each shift. It's important to note that, in order for us to ensure your pay is accurate and timely, you must scan in at the beginning of your shift and out at the conclusion of your shift as close as possible to your start and finish times. If you don't do this, you will not be paid for that shift until further information is received by our Payroll team.

If you realise you haven't scanned in or out for your shift, notify your manager as soon as possible. A Payroll Adjustment Form with the correct information needs to be completed and signed by your manager. This form then goes to Payroll who will include your payment in your next pay.

Emergency communications

In the unlikely event of an emergency, you will need to find out whether you're required to report for work and any specific instructions for employees in your department.

You can find our this information by calling 0800 759 463 or by visiting www.skycity.co.nz/emergency
