Clara Barton was born on December 25, 1821 in North Oxford, Massachusetts. She was the youngest of five children.

Clara's brother got very sick. She help him for two years!

For 15 years Clara was a teacher

When Clara was older, she was in World War 2. She was a doctor. She help wounded soldiers.

When the fight was over, Clara made America's Red Cross.

The headquarters was in Maryland.

Clara believed that everyone has a fighting chance.She also believed that the Red Cross will help thousands of people. Clara Barton died in 1912 at age 90. She was a hero because she made America's Red Cross.

Clara Barton was a great hero!
