1931-Electro-string developed the first commercially available electric guitar pickup

1950-The company Fender officially released the Broadcaster, the first mass-produced solidbody electric guitar

1954-Fender released the Stratocaster, with three pickups instead of the original two, which proved to be very important in the design of guitars to come.

1958-Gibson released the influencial ES-335 semi-acoustic, Flying V, and Explorer

1969-Gibson's long time owner sold the company to Norlin
