Electric Runway was founded by Amanda Cosco in 2015 as a fashion-tech runway show curated for the Maker Festival in Toronto. The aim of the show was to highlight the surprising ways technology was finding its way onto the body.
Back then, it was mostly wrist-worn devices, costume, and concept pieces, but the energy and excitement of the show indicated we'd struck a nerve. Shortly after, Fitbit was teaming up with Public School, Intel became the official technology partner for New York Fashion Week, and Apple was sponsoring the Met Gala. Technology’s presence could be felt across the fashion industry. Looking back, we can now see how technology on the runway was a metaphor crystallizing how digital innovation was poised to disrupt all areas of fashion, from apparel to retail to manufacturing.
Since then, through our events, community-building, reporting, podcast, speaking engagements, and online presence, we've solidified our reputation as a leading voice on the future of fashion not just in North America but around the world.
Today, we continue to share the story from the front lines of #FashionTech by covering conferences, runway events, trade shows and more on our online channels. We also lend our expertise in brand-building, media relations, and growth marketing so others can gain from our experience and global perspective.
An average of 10K people from around the world visit Electric Runway's blog monthly to stay up-to-date on what's happening at the intersection of fashion and technology. Readers typically spend about two minutes on our site from their desktop devices, although mobile viewership is on the rise.
