I really like 1/2 Lemon Meringue Pie. In the painting I see a circle on what I believe is a table. The artist gives the illusion of depth as can be seen below...

The artist also uses shade on the left side of the dish. The bright vibrant colors draw the viewer to the center of the painting.

I see value in the pan, Color in the pie, texture in the foil, and shape in the table. I feel that he wants us to feel "mellow" in seeing this half of a pie. The artist does this by leaving half still covered. The artist was making this painting in the mid 70's. This can explain the simple yet impactful feeling we take away. I would hang this in my home because it has a very soothing feel. I love the color yellow he used and how he used it.
