Mukilteo Elementary Falcon Spirit June 25, 2019

Dear Families,

On behalf of the Mukilteo Elementary staff, I want to extend a thank you to everyone in our school community for a great year. As the school year comes to a close we want to recognize the collective effort of staff, parents, community, and others to support students in their academic and social learning. The staff of Mukilteo Elementary really appreciate the support our families provide!

Habit 7 – Sharpen the Saw

It’s June, what a perfect time to focus on Habit 7 – Sharpen the Saw. Sharpen the Saw means preserving and enhancing the greatest asset you have…you! It means having a balanced program for self-renewal in the four areas of your life: Body, Mind, Heart, and Soul. All of these areas must be strong in order to be a complete person. Steven Covey uses the analogy of a wood cutter who has been sawing several days straight and is becoming less productive as the process of cutting begins to dull the blade. The solution is NOT to take a break or go on vacation - that is just putting the saw down. When you put down a dull blade for a while, the blade will still be dull when you pick it up again. The solution is to take time to sharpen the saw. Sharpening the saw is actually an activity! Think about what it would mean to sharpen the saw of your life: take care of your body by eating right, exercising and getting sleep (body); learn in lots of ways and lots of places (mind); spend time with family and friends (heart); and find meaningful ways to help others (soul). The wood cutter can become even more productive by sharpening the blade, studying new woodcutting techniques, working out to become stronger, and learning from other wood cutters. As you renew yourself in each of the four areas, you create growth and change in your life. Remember, every day provides a new opportunity to recharge yourself. Get out there and sharpen that saw!

Special Thanks to our PTSA board!

Being on the PTSA Executive Board takes a great deal of time and energy while providing wonderful support to our school. Their leadership and energy has been the spark for many of the great programs and activities our Mukilteo Falcons and families have enjoyed throughout the year - the most recent being the fantastic carnival that was a great community event with lots of fun activities and food for students and families to enjoy. A giant THANK YOU is also extended to all the Volunteers that have given their time to support Mukilteo Elementary this year through PTSA fundraising or events, or in the classroom working with students and staff.

Next Year

We will notify you of your child’s “tentative” classroom placement in late August by sending home a card to the home of each student. Final class placement determination will be made after the 4th day of school in September when we know whether student/teacher assignments need to be adjusted due to registrations and withdrawals that occur during the summer months. Grade level student supply lists will be posted on the school website and in the front office when they are available.

Enjoy your summer vacation! We look forward to seeing our “Mukilteo Falcon” students back in September!

Jack Sackett, Principal

Keep up with what's happening at Mukilteo Elementary

As soon as the district officially releases the 2019-20 calendar and school supply list, we will post it on our website.
