RAF Air Cadets

The Royal Air Force Air Cadets provides young people from the ages of 12 to 17 with the opportunity to develop many skills such as leadership, team-working and communication and to experience a wide variety of activities and opportunities, from flying, shooting, sport and the Duke of Edinburgh through to abseiling, archery and camping.

1908 (Bootle) Squadron

At 1908 (Bootle) Squadron our motto is “Respice, Aspice, Prospice”, "The Past, The Present, The Future". We believe in remembering the past, the sacrifices and opportunities and bringing that knowledge into the present in order to ensure our cadets get the best opportunities for development and growth, both as individuals and as a team. Taking these forward into the future, developing life skills and becoming the best they can be.

How to Join Us

Join as a Cadet

  1. Click the ‘Join as a Cadet’ button below send us an email and let us know you are interested in joining.
  2. Visit us on our Induction Evening to see if The Air Cadets is for you.
  3. If it is you will begin your 12 week Recruit Training Programme, where you will cover:-

  2. General Service Knowledge
  3. Airmanship Principles
  4. Map Reading & Navigation
  5. Initial Expedition Training
  6. Radio Communications
  7. First Aid
  8. Initial Weapons Training
  9. Fieldcraft & Military Skills

Cadets will have the opportunity to gain many valuable skills and qualifications through their cadet career.

Some of these include:-

  • St John’s Ambulance Activity First Aid
  • BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Teamwork and Personal Skills
  • BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Aviation Studies for Air Cadets
  • BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Teamwork and Personal Development
  • BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Music for Practical Performance
  • ILM Level 2 and 3

Join as a Cadet Forces Adult Volunteer (CFAV)

We are always keen to welcome new adult volunteers to our ranks, either in uniform or as a Civilian Instructor, all we ask is a few hours of your time each week.
