MARILYN ROYSTER When she needed us most, we had her back. literally.

Dear Friends,

When one day changes years of pain, it’s an amazing feeling. That long awaited moment for me was June 9, 2016 - the day I had surgery at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital.

For nearly five years, I lived with chronic pain and had a life consumed by constant discomfort.

I can tolerate pain, but I had reached a point where I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t sit down, I couldn’t do anything comfortably.

I was referred to Dr. Jeffrey Degen, the Chief of Neurosurgery at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital. Dr. Degen was wonderful. He personally came and took me from the waiting room to get ready for my surgery. He talked to my family and put all of us at ease.

Marilyn is pain free after surgery by Dr. Jeffrey Degen, Chief of the Division of Neurosurgery.

Finally, and all at once, when I awoke from my surgery, I felt the relief I’d been in search of for five years.

I woke up in recovery, moved my leg and there was no pain. I haven’t had any pain since then.

Today, I am back to myself, enjoying all that life has to offer like gardening, getting my own groceries and even playing with my 7-year-old great granddaughter.

I invite you to join me in supporting our community hospital by making a gift today.

With grateful appreciation,

Marilyn Royster
