CALVARY INSTITUTE

The Twelve Prophets

While studying the letter that James wrote, our discussion group noted a recurring theme: perseverance through trials. Near the end of his letter, the half-brother of Jesus exhorted his readers about their continued thought and study of that important topic:

As an example of suffering and patience, brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. James 5:10-11

Following that inspired guidance, we will spend the next several weeks in Calvary Institute looking at some of those “examples of suffering and patience.”

The Twelve Prophets are sometimes called the “Minor Prophets” because of their brevity, not because of their content. We will work our way through those Twelve beginning on February 23. If you have always wondered what Obadiah was about, February 23 is the day you don’t want to miss!

8:30 on Sunday mornings

Child care is provided.

Coming Soon

From Ash Wednesday (Feb. 26) through Palm Sunday (April 5) Calvary Restoration will be joining in prayer with Christians all over the world seeking God for our city. Prayer guides will be available in printed form or you can download the "Seek God for the City 2020" app for $3.

In conjunction with Seek God for the City we will have a special worship and praise night on February 28th at 6:00pm at the church building.

Prepare for Gathered Worship

Acts 4:32-37

They Had Everything in Common

32 Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common. 33 And with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all. 34 There was not a needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold 35 and laid it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need. 36 Thus Joseph, who was also called by the apostles Barnabas (which means son of encouragement), a Levite, a native of Cyprus, 37 sold a field that belonged to him and brought the money and laid it at the apostles' feet.
