Summa Summa Summatime Slidin....Don't let your students slide too much, I read somewhere educators spend at least a month teaching last year's content at the beginning to the school year, here's to slowing down the slide....with some resources you can share with your students.

MakerCamp

Maker Camp provides a simple, fun way for kids to get involved in making. Our worldwide network of affiliates host Maker Camps in public libraries, community groups, makerspaces, and maker homes. Cool projects are always available here online! More than 1 million kids have participated in Maker Camp since it launched in 2012. Each week projects are released, as campers make, they can share with camps all over the world, and see what other campers are making too! p.s. I'll be hosting a campsite here if you're students want to join in...

Create your own Summer Reading program for your students with some of these familiar resources.

Summer Reading with the Epic! Reading program-free to educators, set up your class and create a summer collection for your readers. Epic! offers access to an unlimited library of great children's books. Epic! offers access to an unlimited library of great children's books. Benefits of an Educator Account include: unlimited access, unique student profiles, tracking reading progress, and is available on web browsers or apple devices.

Audio Sync: SYNC is a free summer audiobook program for teens 13+. Returning April 27, 2017 SYNC will give away two complete audiobook downloads a week - pairs of high interest titles, based on weekly themes. In 2016, 30 titles were given away over 15 weeks. Students need to register to participate.

Imagine Math Summer Give-Away

Here’s how the summer math splash works: 1. Teachers will send our official flyer and parent letter home with students. Inside, parents can read great tips for supporting their child in Imagine Math during the summer. 2. Next, parents should use this registration link to register their child for the challenge. Register before June 30, 2017 for an automatic chance at the Big Kahuna Grand Prize. 3. Registered students are now ready to complete the challenge, which runs from June 12–July 31, 2017.

Instructables: How to make Anything! Show your students this site which give you tutorials on how to make almost anything from food, to clothing, to robotics. The site also has competitions and challenges to enter all the time. Have students who want to create or figure out how things work-this site is perfect for them.
