Spread the Love
Through three games this season, 11 different Green Terror players have caught a pass as part of the offense. However, six of those players to catch a pass are listed as wide receivers. The other five are either tight ends or have caught a pass out of the backfield. Perry Stefanelli, Diondre Carter and Eisley Kim have all caught passes out of the backfield. The top two tight ends – Owen Reese and Noah Shine have each not only caught passes but have found the end zone.
Like a Bakery
The Green Terror defense continues to force turnovers this season. The unit has a CC-high eight interceptions and has at least two picks in each of the first three games. Habeeb Baba added to the total at the end of the first half on Saturday before Desmond Banks nabbed his first career interception in the third quarter. For the season, McDaniel is currently +11 in the turnover department, which is best in the conference.
Leading the Way
Tracey Easton, Nah’shon Godfrey, Jake Scott, Kofi Siga and Perry Stefanelli will all captain the squad in 2019. All five are first-time captains. It marks the most captains since the Green Terror also had five in 2013.
Ransom Money
Jarius Ransom enters this week in the conference’s top five in total tackles and tackles for loss. Ransom is averaging 9.0 tackles per game through the first three games. He also has 5.0 tackles for loss, which is fifth-most in the CC. Ransom also has a pair of sacks and ranks in the top 10 and is one of 21 conference players with a fumble recovery.
Going Long
On the Green Terror’s first drive of the second quarter last week, Tyler Palermiti found Colin Fisher down the sideline for a 40-yard gain that set up the team’s first touchdown. The 40-yard connection was not only Fisher’s longest career reception, it was the longest pass play by McDaniel in 364 days. Palermiti hit Davon Ingram for a 53-yard gain at Gettysburg on Sept. 22, 2018 at Gettysburg.
That’s a First
Noah Shine became the fifth different Green Terror player to register his first collegiate touchdown this season. Shine grabbed a four-yard reception in the end zone midway through the second quarter on Saturday. For Shine, it was not only his first touchdown catch but also his first collegiate reception.
THIS WEEK
Opening Kickoff: Today’s Centennial Conference (CC) game marks the 73rd meeting between McDaniel (2-1, 1-1 CC) and Gettysburg (0-3, 0-2 CC) in a series that dates back to 1891. The Bullets lead the all-time series 51-20-1 but the Green Terror has won back-to-back games to to snap a six-game losing streak in the series.

When Last We Met: McDaniel combined a balanced offense with a stifling defense to top Gettysburg 25-0 last season. The Green Terror outgained the Bullets 350-123, scoring in every quarter and pitching its first shutout since 2010. Davon Ingram caught five passes for 82 yards while John Chamberlin ran the ball 25 times for 81 yards. Johnny Davis caught three passes for 49 yards – more than half of Ryan Finlay’s 90 yards passing – for the Bullets.
The Bullets enter this week’s game off a 56-20 loss to Dickinson at home last Saturday. The Red Devils scored 28 first-quarter points that included two scoring plays of 38 yards or longer. Gettysburg was outgained 596-314 on the afternoon. Logan Edmond went 12-for-21 through the air for 155 yards. He also ran for 46 yards with a touchdown. Mike Welsh ran the ball 18 times for 71 yards and a touchdown. Welsh also caught five passes out of the backfield for 42 yards… Through the first three games in 2019, the Bullets are allowing an average of 450.7 yards per game, including more than 241 per game on the ground… The offense is averaging 302.3 yards per contest… Edmond is completing just 44 percent of his passes this season while Matt Harris is completing 37 percent of his attempts. Edmond and Welsh have combined for 297 yards rushing – more than 88 percent of the running attack… Alex Stillman leads the defense with 19 tackles and an interception… Alex Ralmondo has 15 stops, including 4.0 for loss and 2.0 sacks… Gettysburg enters Week 4 ranked ninth in the CC in scoring offense (13.3 ppg) and 10th in scoring defense (48.3 ppg).
Praying on the Defense
Aaron Pray III racked up 136 all-purpose yards on Saturday at Franklin & Marshall for nearly twice as many yards as he had amassed in any previous single game. He had 113 yards in the return game and 23 rush yards on three carries. Pray has the most total yards of any Green Terror player this season with 212 all-purpose yards. The 108 kickoff-return yards were his first of the season.
Terror Tidbits
McDaniel has been outgained 987-750 in the first three games… After back-to-back road games to start the conference schedule, the Green Terror plays back-to-back home games before entering the bye week.
