We arrived in Takapuna, Auckland to an Airbnb. Ready explore this exciting new land. We were greeted but a tiny French bulldog named Maisy.
One of the first places we went was Piha. A rugged west coast beach surrounded by steep, jagged cliffs. This would be the start of my love affair with the rugged west coast.
A touristy-yet-not-cheesy town thats organic and unapologetically gluten free. Great surf breaks, off the beaten path shops and a relaxed vibe made Raglan one of my favourite towns on the North Island.
Things I can't be trusted with include the following: Cheese, Deli Meats, Waterguns.
We were having an all-time sunset when somebody (me) got too close to the water and got postively swamped by a massive wave. Mental note: if no one is out on the rocks, you shouldn't be either.
Sunday walks: Good and good for you.
A challenging steep walk up a tiny mountain overlooking Raglan
We needed to escape the damp Auckland winter so we took a quick flight over to the neighbours for a little beach vacation. Took a long weekend in Australia's Gold Coast
We drove up the northwest coast of of the north island and found a couple of things. 1) Massive (read: maaaasive) Kauri trees. 17m girth. 2) Beaches that you can drive on.
We met up with Kiersten family on Oahu for a week in the sun and some much needed R & R.
