Ms. Hinton Lorca Elementary- middle school Diverse Learner Teacher

This is my first year at Lorca. Previously, I taught intermediate grades at a charter school on the southwest side of Chicago and at a public school in Arlington, Virginia. I am grateful to be part of an amazing school community. I believe elementary school should promote a sense of excitement and possibility and I aim to provide a variety of learning experiences to engage all learners at their ability level.

I am Learning Behavior Specialist 1 certified and completed my masters in special education last spring. I will be starting courses for an ESL endorsement in January.

Being from a small farm town in Illinois, I love to be outside! Working in my garden, camping, and traveling are some of my favorite things to do. I enjoy trying out new recipes with my friends and biking to Lorca.

Classroom Expectations and Homework: Students are expected to follow Lorca's school rules and the CPS Code of Conduct. Homework is posted on your student's google classroom site when assigned. Please email me to request parental google classroom access. Additionally, students should read for a minimum of 20 minutes each night. Technology subscriptions are a great resource we have at Lorca and students are encouraged to log on at home for extra practice.

Contact me! I'd love to discuss your student's progress with you and strategies that I can use to best meet their needs. I am available to meet before and after school. Email is the best way to reach me: ahinton7@cps.edu.
