TESOL WORLD MISSION TESOL is the platform to reach the WORLD to fulfill God's MISSION
TESOL, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, is a one of the newest fields in the area of education. ESOL is the English Language Learning program for non-English speakers. TESOL has now become a requirement for English teachers' employment in non-English speaking countries, especially in Asia.
Because of her untiring passion for education, and her love for TESOL professionals, Angie Pacleb founded TESOL Philippines, Inc., the association of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages. TESOL Philippines, Inc. has been holding national and regional educational conferences in the Philippines since 2006.
"The Philippines will become the number one provider of English teachers to Asia and beyond." - Angie Pacleb, 2012
Today, this prophecy has become a reality. There are more Filipinos teaching English in any country in Asia than any other foreign nationality. In Cambodia, English teachers comprise about 12% of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) there. "Filipino teachers are preferred and sought-after because of their nurturing nature", says First Consul Myca Fischer of the Philippine Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
There has never been a point in world history when the demand of English learning AND the sending of teaching missionaries to non-English nations (especially to the 10/40 Window) has been this high. TESOL has now become a primary tool for wold missions.
To explore and experience this unique fusion, Angie Pacleb joined Ten Days Mission in 2015. In the same year, she organized English teaching mission teams to China, Vietnam and Cambodia. She plans to bring similar mission teams to the other 9-member states of the ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) in 2017. This time, TESOL will fully take on a redemptive meaning and role: Teaching and Evangelizing Speakers of Other Languages, and Touching Eternal Souls for Our Lord. TESOL WORLD MISSION will officially become a world missions strategy to the non-English speaking world.
HOW IT WORKS: TESOL ASEAN (the federation of TESOL organizations in the ASEAN region) coordinates with Philippine Embassies in ASEAN. Through the endorsement and support of the embassies, TESOL ASEAN connects with universities, international/language schools, social organizations and communities for outreach. Teacher educators who are TESOL specialists conduct FREE seminar-workshops for English teachers (and aspiring English teachers) in that mission country, English teachers visit and teach students in schools, NGOs, institutions, communities, and the like. Both of these are initial avenues to present the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
